The Answer to Charlottesville
Once the necessary condemnation and rage run their course, there is an opportunity to change the conversation. Instead of we versus them, the notion of E pluribus unum needs to take hold. In the United States, we created this problem of race and racism. We created the adversarial energy that has produced so much conflict. The fighters, the zealots, and the bystander moderates have all contributed to today’s problem. So we need to fix it. We need to lay our guns down, open our hearts and our ears, and learn some empathy.
